An outbreak of bacillary dysentery has been reported in Duc Hanh commune, Bao Lam district, by the Cao Bang Provincial Center for Disease Control. With 55 people experiencing symptoms such as abdominal pain, fever, and diarrhea, this outbreak has occurred after many years of absence of the disease in the area. Mr. Nong Tri Truyen, Deputy Director of the CDC, stated that the patients were recorded from April to the present and exhibited common symptoms including abdominal pain, mild fever, and loose stools with bloody mucus.

Samples have been taken for testing to confirm the presence of bacillary dysentery in the patients. Currently, four patients are receiving treatment at the Bao Lam District Medical Center while the rest are being treated at home and are in stable condition. The outbreak of bacillary dysentery is a result of unhygienic living habits, open defecation, and a conducive climate for disease-causing microorganisms to thrive.

Symptoms of bacillary dysentery infection include high fever, chills, headache, fatigue, abdominal cramps, and bloody stools. The disease is transmitted through the fecal-oral route and can be spread through direct contact with infected individuals or indirectly through contaminated food and water. Insects such as flies can also act as intermediaries in spreading the disease. The CDC is closely monitoring the outbreak and advising the community on maintaining hygiene to prevent further spread of the epidemic.

Bacillary dysentery is a rare but serious illness that can lead to severe complications if left untreated. It is important for individuals to seek medical attention if they experience any symptoms associated with the disease. Preventative measures such as practicing good hygiene habits like washing hands regularly and properly disposing of waste can help reduce the risk of contracting bacillary dysentery.

The Cao Bang Provincial Center for Disease Control continues to investigate this outbreak to identify its cause and determine its extent. They will provide regular updates on their findings once more information becomes available.
