On Thursday at 11 a.m., the National Cathedral will host an interfaith Celebration of Life to pay tribute to the seven aid workers killed in Gaza while delivering food to civilians in need. The event, organized by World Central Kitchen (WCK), will be live-streamed for the public to join.

Celebrity Chef José Andrés, founder of WCK, is expected to speak at the service, where people of all faiths will come together to honor the fallen heroes. Acclaimed cellist Yo-Yo Ma and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff are also set to attend.

The tragic incident occurred following a two-week raid on Shifa Hospital by Israeli troops, during which the workers were killed. Aid volunteers in Gaza have been tirelessly providing aid to Palestinians who have been facing food shortages due to Israeli blockades established after a Hamas attack.

The risks faced by aid workers in Gaza are significant, with approximately 200 volunteers losing their lives since the crisis began. President Joe Biden has sent his condolences and offered his support to the families of the victims. For more information on the victims and their work, visit the provided link.

This event serves as a reminder of the importance of humanitarian aid and the dangers that aid workers face in conflict zones around the world. It also highlights the need for peace and diplomacy between nations and peoples.

WCK’s mission is to provide food and hope to those in need, regardless of where they come from or what circumstances they face. They have been working tirelessly in Gaza since 2014, providing nutritious meals and job training for Palestinians affected by conflict.

As we remember these fallen heroes, let us also remember those who continue to work tirelessly every day to bring relief and support where it is needed most. We must stand together as a global community committed to peace, justice, and equality for all people.

The service will take place on Thursday at 11 a.m., live-streamed for everyone who wants to participate from anywhere in the world.
