After a rainy Tuesday that forced a washout of WPIAL baseball and softball games, the action resumed on Wednesday. Fox Chapel baseball, with a record of 1-0 in section play, is looking to continue their winning ways when they visit Penn-Trafford on Wednesday. The team needed extra innings to secure a win in their last game, with Mitchell Epstein hitting a walk-off sac fly to score Joe Geller for a 4-3 victory over the Warriors.

In Section 1-5A, Franklin Regional is looking to build on their recent success as they face Penn Hills. The Panthers are coming off a dominant 15-1 win and hope to secure another victory on Wednesday. Meanwhile, in Section 2-2A, Laurel managed a comeback win over South Side with a two-run walk-off single in the seventh inning. The teams will face off again on Wednesday.

Two Indian softball teams, North Hills and Penn Hills, will meet on Wednesday in their Section 1-5A opener. Both teams have had strong starts to the season, with North Hills sitting at 3-1 and Penn Hills winning their first two nonsection games decisively. After a couple more section contests, the teams will meet again in two weeks at North Hills.
