Whitney Cumbo, owner of Prima, a beauty supply store in Bridgeport, has been dealing with ongoing vandalism and setbacks that she believes are due to her race. Recently, the store’s front window was shattered on June 18th, and Cumbo is still waiting for it to be fixed. She expressed her frustration at the lack of progress in finding the person responsible for the damage, as Chicago police are still investigating the incident.

Cumbo started her business with her sister five years ago in Bridgeport, where they grew up and feel at home. However, she has felt like an outsider in the area due to her race. As an African American woman, she feels like she faces setbacks without reason and is being pushed out of the community.

Employee Donte Miles shared his disappointment that despite their well-respected and positive business intentions, Prima continues to be targeted by vandals. The store’s team is determined to overcome these challenges and continue serving their community despite these setbacks.

Despite the ongoing investigation into the vandalism incident on June 18th, no one is currently in police custody. Cumbo remains hopeful that justice will be served soon and that her business can continue to thrive in Bridgeport without any further incidents of vandalism or discrimination.
