During the annual plenary meeting of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Sport (EPAS) in Strasbourg, Deputy Secretary General Bjørn Berge met with Finland’s Minister of youth, sport, and physical activity, Sandra Bergqvist. The focus of their discussion was on global challenges related to sports integrity and anti-doping measures. They also talked about the upcoming 18th Council of Europe Conference of Ministers responsible for Sport, scheduled to take place in Porto, Portugal from 8-10 October.

One key topic of their meeting was the campaign “Don’t Break the Game” in Finland. This campaign aims to raise awareness about human rights issues present in both the structures of sports as well as in everyday situations. The discussion emphasized the importance of addressing these issues and ensuring that all athletes are able to participate in sports without facing discrimination or unfair treatment.

The meeting between Deputy Secretary General Berge and Minister Bergqvist highlighted the need for continued international cooperation in promoting sports integrity and ensuring fair play for all athletes. They discussed ways in which they could work together to address these challenges and promote a more inclusive and safe sporting environment for everyone. Additionally, they also talked about how this conference would bring together ministers from across Europe to discuss best practices and share ideas on how to improve the sporting landscape on a continent wide level
