The comedy docuseries “The World’s Strangest Jobs” has been sold to Prime Video for the rights to the African continent. The series is produced by Mannequin Pictures, a key production, finance, and distribution company in South Africa. The eight-part series is hosted by comedian and actor Schalk Bezuidenhout, a popular South African comic known for his acting work and stand-up comedy specials.

Bezuidenhout travels the world to find the most unusual jobs, from pet detectives in New York to rental boyfriends in Tokyo. Mannequin CEO Delon Bakker expressed excitement about the show being picked up by Prime Video, offering audiences a unique look at these unconventional careers.

The growing presence of streaming platforms in sub-Saharan Africa comes as no surprise, with a report from Ampere Analysis predicting significant growth in the subscription video on demand (SVOD) market in the region. Local platforms like Showmax compete with global streaming services for market share.

“The World’s Strangest Jobs” is produced by Bakker and Kyle Ambrose of Mannequin Pictures, who recently completed production on the theatrical film “London Calling,” directed by Allan Unger and starring Josh Duhamel and Rick Hoffman. Highland Film Group is handling international sales for “London Calling.”
