The village of Novaya Tavolzhanka in Shebekinsky urban district, located three kilometers from the border of Russia and Ukraine, came under fire from the Armed Forces of Ukraine on April 20. The head of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, reported that a pregnant woman walking down the street during the shelling was seriously wounded by a shell fragment. Unfortunately, both the woman and her fetus were unable to be saved by doctors.
In addition to the pregnant woman, three more residents of Novaya Tavolzhanka sustained injuries of varying severity. Despite being injured, these victims refused hospitalization. The shelling also caused damage to several private households and two cars in the area. Novaya Tavolzhanka is situated just three kilometers from the border of Russia and Ukraine, making it a frequent target for shelling incidents according to authorities in the Belgorod region.
