Poudre School District Nordic skier Cade Shortridge has been named the Blue Federal Credit Union Athlete of the Week for the winter sports season. Shortridge secured the program’s first-ever state championship with the five-kilometer boys skate title in February, and had an exceptional season, earning first-team all-state honors and two additional race wins.
Shortridge led the PSD boys to a second-place finish as a team in the skate event, marking their best team result in a state championship race. The boys’ squad also celebrated its first classic race win earlier in the season at the Maloit Park event. With these achievements, Shortridge solidifies his status as the most decorated skier in the district squad’s six-year history.
Fans can nominate their favorite athletes by Saturday at 11:59 p.m., and the Coloradoan sports staff will select five nominees each week. For future nominations for Athlete of the Week, submissions can be sent via email to ChrisAbshire@coloradoan.com for consideration.
