During a campaign speech in Detroit on June 15, former US President Donald Trump proudly discussed his own cognitive test results while attacking his successor Joe Biden’s mental clarity. Trump suggested that the 81-year-old Biden should be tested for mental capacity, but made a mistake when referring to the 2018 cognitive ability test administered by White House doctor Ronny Jackson, calling him Dr. Ronny Johnson, a congressman from Texas.

Trump praised Dr. Jackson, who later became a Texas congressman and one of his staunch supporters, but the error was made while attacking Biden’s mental health. Trump claimed that Biden doesn’t understand certain words like “inflation” and should take a cognitive test like he did. He also referenced a video that circulated on social media showing Biden turning away from the group of G7 leaders, but the full video actually showed Biden acknowledging a parachutist who landed nearby.

The ongoing feud between Biden and Trump regarding age escalated as they both criticized each other’s mental acuity. Despite being the oldest sitting US President at 78 years old, Trump expressed reluctance about his birthday and criticized Biden’s performance as President. On the other hand, Biden faced accusations of dementia despite White House denial. Both men remain at the forefront of the 2024 presidential race.

As for their mental abilities, it is important to note that cognitive tests are not always accurate and can be influenced by various factors such as mood and stress levels. Therefore, it is crucial to approach these results with caution and not use them as sole basis for judging someone’s mental state.

In conclusion, both Trump and Biden have different opinions on mental clarity and cognitive testing for public figures. While Trump may have relied too heavily on these tests when attacking his predecessor’s abilities, it is important to remember that they are not always accurate or reliable indicators of mental health or capability.

As we move forward towards the 2024 presidential race, let us focus on issues that matter most to Americans rather than engaging in personal attacks based on age or perceived mental abilities.
