Piedmontese, a renowned beef brand, has announced that its Lincoln warehouse was damaged by one of the tornadoes that struck the area on Friday. The warehouse sustained significant damages alongside Garner Industries and the derailment of train cars on Cornhusker Highway. Despite this setback, Nick Lahm, the Director of Operations at Piedmontese, expressed gratitude that everyone remained safe and is working towards resuming business operations as soon as possible.

Lahm shared his firsthand account of witnessing the tornado from a safe distance while it picked up vehicles and caused damage to the warehouse. Windows were blown out, and common areas like the kitchen were affected. However, Lahm was relieved that all workers had been moved to a brick office building for safety beforehand.

The priority for Lahm and his team was ensuring their safety and well-being during the tornado. While they followed tornado protocols provided some guidance, facing the storm firsthand was still an overwhelming experience. Although they were ready for such an eventuality, they had not anticipated being so close to its location.

During the storm, one driver was out on routes but managed to return home safely. The warehouse lost power temporarily due to the tornado’s impact prompting workers to move inventory to a refrigerated area until power was restored by Lincoln Electric Systems. Before resuming their duties fully, contractors and USDA must confirm that the facility is safe again.

Despite facing challenges in restoring operations after the tornado hit their warehouse, Piedmontese remains determined to serve their customers once again. Subscribe to 10/11 NOW for daily news updates and alerts delivered straight to your inbox.
