Derek Watt, a former NFL fullback and University of Wisconsin player, attended a football game earlier this season at his alma mater, Pewaukee High School. The live Milwaukee High School Sports Awards show, presented by Festival Foods, will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 14 at the Riverside Theater.

The event is supported by US Cellular, Wisconsin Army National Guard, and Boundless Adventures and will honor over 300 of the area’s top high school athletes in over 25 sports, along with top coaches and teams. Derek Watt had a significant impact as a blocker in both running and passing situations, as well as on special teams during his time at the University of Wisconsin. He helped tailback Melvin Gordon break numerous records while growing up in Pewaukee alongside his NFL brothers J.J. and T.J. Watt.

In addition to honoring athletes and coaches, the event will feature the presentation of several major awards such as Girls Athlete of the Year, Boys Athlete of the Year, Team of the Year, Coach of the Year, Courage Award and Lifetime Achievement Award. The Milwaukee High School Sports Awards show is part of the USA TODAY High School Sports Awards program, which is recognized as being one of largest high school sports recognition programs in country.
