After a slow start to their official visit season, Penn State and James Franklin are on a roll. The Nittany Lions have landed several top targets in recent weeks and are now one of the top classes nationally. One player who will certainly give them a boost is their newest commit, Max Granville.

A four-star edge rusher and linebacker from Texas, Granville has been on Penn State’s wish list for some time. With Texas A&M and Oklahoma so involved in his recruitment process, many thought it would be tough for Penn State to win him over. However, there continued to be great feedback coming out about how he felt about the program and coaching staff as a whole.

Granville was on campus for an official visit over the weekend of May 31, but with two more scheduled visits to A&M and Oklahoma following his departure from State College, many didn’t think Penn State could pull this off. However, they did just that by landing one of their biggest wins of the cycle with Granville committing to the program.

The No. 167 player in the 2025 class, Granville has NFL pedigree with his dad having spent four years playing for the Cincinnati Bengals. He was a major part of his son’s recruitment process and ultimately decided on Penn State after being impressed by what he saw during his official visit. Now, he is on board as their 18th commit in the class.

Penn State is now well-positioned to secure a top class ranking when the final rankings are released in 2025. Follow Nittany Lions Wire on X, Facebook, and Threads for all your latest recruiting news and updates!
