Paris Saint Germain has been locked in a fierce rivalry with FC Barcelona, both on and off the pitch. The latest chapter in this saga took place in the transfer market, where PSG attempted to sign Barcelona’s young defensive prodigy, Lamine Yamal. However, their €200 million offer was rejected, and they are now preparing to submit a €250 million bid for the talented player.

Despite failing to sign Yamal, PSG has not lost interest in Barcelona’s squad. Reports suggest that Sporting Director Luis Campos was also keen on signing defender Pau Cubarsi before Barcelona renewed his contract. With a release clause of only €10 million, Cubarsi could have been an attractive option for any club looking to add depth to their defense. However, Cubarsi ultimately decided to stay with Barcelona, citing his desire to succeed at the Catalan club.

Under his new contract, which runs until 2027, Cubarsi now has a release clause of €500 million. This move is seen as a way to deter potential suitors, especially PSG, who have been known for their aggressive tactics in the transfer market. Despite this setback, Barcelona remains confident that Cubarsi will remain committed to the club for years to come.
