Air Liquide has recently opened a hydrogen refuelling station in Paris in preparation for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The station, located at Place de l’Alma in the city center, will provide fast refuelling times of approximately five minutes for a range of up to 650km. This station will support the official hydrogen-powered fleet for the upcoming games, which includes 500 Toyota Mirai cars.

Funding for the station was received from the Clean Hydrogen Partnership as part of the H2ME2 programme. This public-private partnership is supported by the EU Horizon’s 2020 research and innovation programme, Hydrogen Europe, and Hydrogen Europe Research. Armelle Levieux, a Member of Air Liquide’s Executive Committee overseeing hydrogen activities, expressed excitement about the opportunity to accelerate the development and adoption of hydrogen during Paris 2024.

In addition to supporting the games, Air Liquide and TotalEnergies have recently launched a joint venture called TEAL Mobility to establish a network of 100 hydrogen refuelling stations to support the acceleration of hydrogen heavy-duty trucks. The interim target for this venture is to operate around 20 stations in France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Germany starting in 2024. This partnership further demonstrates Air Liquide’s commitment to expanding the use of hydrogen as a clean energy source.
