Kayla Harrison has proven her doubters wrong by making weight for her upcoming UFC bantamweight bout against Holly Holm. Weighing in at 136 pounds during Friday’s official weigh-in, Harrison met the 135-pound limit and is now set to compete in the non-title fight. Many had concerns about whether she could cut enough weight to reach the required limit, given her previous competitions as an Olympian in judo at 171 pounds and in the PFL at 155 pounds.

Despite these doubts, Harrison’s coach, Mike Brown, had confidence that she could successfully drop the weight in a short amount of time. Brown believed that the commitment to the weight cut was essential, as Harrison had not been cutting weight at 155 pounds during her time in the PFL. Fighting opponents larger than her in the PFL, Brown saw the weight cut as a beneficial move for Harrison’s career in the UFC.

With a professional record of 16-1, including six knockouts and six submission wins, Harrison is making her UFC debut against the experienced Holly Holm. Holm, a former UFC bantamweight champion who famously defeated Ronda Rousey in 2015, boasts a record of 15-6, with a 3-1 record in her last five fights. Despite a recent no contest due to an opponent’s failed drug test, Holm remains a formidable opponent for Harrison in what promises to be a highly anticipated matchup.
