Oregon Ducks had a successful weekend on the recruiting trail, particularly in the transfer portal. On Sunday, they welcomed Peyton Woodyard, a highly rated safety who transferred from Alabama and committed to the Ducks. This addition followed the commitment of Derrick Harmon, a transfer defensive tackle from Michigan State who committed on Friday. According to 247Sports’ Greg Biggins, Woodyard is known for being a smart player with a high football IQ.

These additions have bolstered Oregon’s roster and positioned them as the second-ranked team in the 247Sports transfer portal team rankings, behind only Ole Miss. The Ducks have secured a total of 14 players from the transfer portal as they gear up for their debut season in the Big Ten. Noteworthy additions include quarterback Dillon Gabriel, wide receiver Evan Stewart, and cornerback Jabbar Muhammad, all of whom bring valuable experience from top programs.

Despite Ohio State being the favored contender in the Big Ten, many believe that Oregon poses a significant threat in the 2024 season. Competing for a conference title in their inaugural year in the league would be an impressive feat for the Ducks. Their strong recruitment efforts at both high school and transfer levels have put them in a favorable position to succeed, challenging conventional expectations for new teams in Power Four conferences.
