Karsten Warholm kicked off his outdoor Olympic athletics season at the Trond Mohn Games in Bergen, Norway. The reigning Olympic champion in the 400m hurdles competed in a rare 300m hurdle race, finishing first with a time of 33.28. This was just short of his world record of 33.26, which he set in 2021 during his last 300m outing.

Warholm’s fellow Norwegian, Andreas Haara Bakketun, finished second with a time of 35.43. Warholm recently wrapped up his indoor season with a silver medal in the 400m flat, coming in behind Alexander Doom.

As the world record holder in the 400m hurdles with a time of 45.94 set at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Warholm will be looking to defend his title and make history by becoming the first man to win back-to-back Olympic titles in the event since Glenn Davis in 1956 and 1960. Warholm’s performance at the Trond Mohn Games marks the beginning of what promises to be an exciting and successful outdoor season for the talented athlete.
