At the 73rd Kansas City Science and Engineering Fair held at Union Station, Teaghan Bailey, a fifth-grade student at Our Lady of the Presentation (OLP) Catholic School, achieved great success. She was awarded a gold ribbon and a blue ribbon for winning first place in the intermediate division for her project on microbiology titled “Wash Your Hands”.

Teaghan’s innovative project focused on testing the effectiveness of different hand cleansing methods including soap & water, hand sanitizer, and water only. Her hard work and dedication paid off as she earned $100 for being the first-place winner in the intermediate division category.

The science and engineering fair saw participation from over 63 schools and showcased more than 500 projects across different levels including senior, junior, and intermediate. Teaghan’s achievement highlights her talent in the field of microbiology and her dedication to scientific inquiry. Her success not only reflects her hard work but also the exceptional academic environment at OLP Catholic School that encourages and nurtures students to excel in science and research.
