In 2021, NYU Langone Health and Long Island Community Hospital received approval from both state and federal authorities to affiliate. This affiliation plan was announced in the summer of that year and resulted in NYU Langone becoming the active parent organization of the 306-bed medical center.
The merger between the two health systems is expected to take place in approximately one year, with a spokesperson for NYU Langone confirming this to Becker’s. While Long Island Community Hospital will remain a separate corporation, its affiliation with NYU Langone will allow it to access the resources of the larger system. The integration of Long Island Community Hospital into the NYU Langone network will provide enhanced healthcare services to the community.
