Notts County is pleased to announce the signing of Alex Bass from Sunderland on a three-year deal. The 26-year-old goalkeeper, who previously played for Portsmouth, has joined the club after making only two cup appearances for Sunderland.

Bass spent last season on loan at AFC Wimbledon in League Two, where he proved his talent by keeping 17 clean sheets in 48 appearances across all competitions. Although he still had a year remaining on his Sunderland contract, Notts County saw him as the best-performing goalkeeper in League Two last season.

Richard Montague, Notts County’s board lead on recruitment, expressed confidence in Bass’s abilities and described him as a commanding presence that will provide a significant advantage in addressing the defensive issues faced by the team in the previous season.

The club had conceded 86 goals last season while finishing 14th in the table with their strong attack. With Bass joining defenders Jacob Bedeau and Matty Platt as their third summer signing at Meadow Lane, Notts County aims to improve its defensive record and compete for promotion next season.
