Fingrid has announced that the current electricity transmission disruption between Finland and Estonia is a result of a normal fault situation. The direct current connection, EstLink 1, was disconnected from the network at approximately 343 megawatts of power transfer from Finland to Estonia at the time of disconnection. An investigation into the disturbance has been launched to determine the cause of the fault at the Estonian direct current substation.
According to Fingrid’s press release, the disruption did not affect Finland’s operational reliability of its electricity system. Additionally, Finland’s electricity export to Estonia is currently unavailable due to this incident. Furthermore, there has been a delay in repairing EstLink 2 and it is expected to be out of service until August 31st.
