In 2024, the Washington Commanders will have one of the most athletic quarterbacks in the NFL with Jayden Daniels being compared to Lamar Jackson for his running ability and advanced passing skills. But how does the rest of the team measure up in terms of athleticism? According to Kent Lee Platte, creator of the Relative Athletic Score metric, the Commanders are ranked 20th in terms of overall roster athleticism for the upcoming season. Despite this ranking, Washington had the highest RAS from the 2024 NFL draft with an impressive average score of 9.427. This draft class was the first under new general manager Adam Peters and head coach Dan Quinn.

Even though the Commanders had a highly athletic draft class, their overall roster still ranks 20th in terms of athleticism with an average RAS of 7.29. This indicates a focus on targeting elite athletes by Peters and Quinn, as they aim to improve the team’s speed and agility on the field. The Commanders are looking to change their narrative in recent years with their renewed focus on athleticism under Peters and Quinn.
