Florida football had a thrilling week with the commitment of four-star quarterback Will Griffin from Tampa Jesuit. Before his unofficial visit to Gainesville, he received a crystal ball prediction from 247Sports, which only added to his excitement about following in his family’s footsteps at the university.

On Saturday, Griffin announced that he would be committing to the Gators, making him the first verbal pledge of the 2026 cycle. Standing at 6-foot-2.5 inches and weighing 225 pounds, Griffin has always been drawn to the orange and blue of Florida and is eager to start his journey at UF.

Griffin shared his enthusiasm about joining the Gator family and expressed his long-time fandom for the team. He also mentioned that his father’s side of the family has strong ties to UF, which made it an easy choice for him. During his high school sophomore year, Griffin had an impressive season, completing 67.6% of his passes for 3,404 yards and 34 touchdowns for Jesuit.

In terms of rankings, Griffin is considered No. 89 overall and No. 7 at his position nationally in the 247Sports composite. On3 has him ranked at Nos. 104 and 8, respectively. Leading up to his commitment, Florida was predicted as the favorite by On3’s recruiting prediction machine, with an impressive 88.1% chance of signing him. Other schools like Florida State, Ohio State, and Michigan were significantly behind the Gators in the predictions.
