Vermont’s men’s basketball team is preparing for the upcoming season with the expectation of retaining most of their rotation. However, they have made a significant addition to their roster by recruiting former Memphis guard Jayhlon Young to strengthen their guard position.

Young has had a winding college basketball journey so far. He began his career at Grambling, redshirting his true freshman year in 2019-20. After two seasons at a junior college, he then transferred to UCF where he played over 19 minutes per game, averaging 4.5 points and shooting nearly 36% from three-point range. Despite this success, Young made another move to Memphis last season but saw a decrease in playing time and performance compared to his time at UCF.

Now that he has joined the Catamounts, Vermont is looking forward to Young’s experience and skills making a positive impact on the team and helping them succeed in the upcoming season. With the graduation of standout guard Aaron Deloney, Vermont is hoping that Young will be able to replace some of the production lost and help them continue their success on the court.
