Olympic champion Peres Jepchirchir made history by breaking the women’s-only world record in a thrilling London Marathon. The Kenyan athlete finished the race in an impressive time of two hours, 16 minutes, and 16 seconds. As she sprinted down the Mall towards the finish line, there were four runners in contention for the win.

Jepchirchir expressed her gratitude for the victory, stating that she had not expected to break the world record. She credited her hard work and dedication for the achievement and looked forward to defending her title in future competitions.

In the men’s wheelchair race, Marcel Hug clinched a record fourth consecutive win. The Swiss athlete, nicknamed the ‘Silver Bullet’, completed the race in 1:28:33. Daniel Romanchuk of the United States secured second place, while Britain’s David Weir finished third in his 25th consecutive London Marathon.

The women’s wheelchair race was dominated by Swiss athlete Catherine Debrunner, who finished comfortably ahead of the competition. Manuela Schar, also from Switzerland, came in second, with American Tatyana McFadden placing third. British athlete Eden Rainbow-Cooper finished in the top six, showcasing her talent and determination in the highly competitive race.

Overall, it was an incredible day for athletes competing in London Marathon as they broke records and showcased their talents on this global stage.
