Augusta National Golf Club is introducing a new twist to its annual women’s amateur championship this year. After completing their practice round, participants will have the opportunity to play a twilight nine on the club’s Par 3 Course. This marks the first time in the championship’s history that competitors will be able to play the short course.

Anna Davis, who is entering her third Augusta National Women’s Amateur, is particularly excited about this new addition to the tournament. Last year, she and her fellow competitors participated in a closest-to-the-hole challenge on the Par 3 Course’s ninth hole for a video that was featured on the championship’s website and social channels.

“I think that’ll be really fun,” said Davis. “It’s just great for everyone to keep seeing different parts of Augusta National. The property is so big, so I know everyone is looking forward to doing that.”

The Par 3 Course has hosted the annual Par 3 Contest on Wednesday of Masters week since 1960 and underwent a thorough renovation before last year’s tournament. Hole Nos. 1-5 were rerouted and several trees were removed to improve patron walkways and viewing areas. This opportunity allows competitors to experience and appreciate different aspects of the Augusta National Golf Club.
