Rebecca Sinclair, a chief brand officer at Penguin Random House, and Nicole Vanderbilt, the managing director of Bookshop.org’s UK branch, have been appointed to the World Book Day trustee board. Emma Scott, the chair of World Book Day, expressed her delight in welcoming Rebecca and Nicole to the board.

Rebecca Sinclair highlighted the importance of reading for pleasure in a child’s future success and emphasized that it is crucial to promote this habit in children. She pointed out that research findings show a decline in reading for pleasure among young people. She urged fellow trustees to take urgent action to address these trends and ensure that World Book Day achieves its goal of achieving “greater reach and increased impact” by 2027.

Nicole Vanderbilt shared her excitement at becoming a trustee for World Book Day, stating that it was a personal honor for her as she has always been passionate about promoting children’s reading for pleasure. She expressed gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with fellow trustees and the World Book Day team in advancing the organization’s goals.
