The USWNT is off to a great start under new head coach Emma Hayes, as they recently defeated South Korea 4-0 in a friendly match at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Colorado. Tierna Davidson and Mallory Swanson scored two goals each for the US team, leading them to victory. The first goal was scored by Swanson in the 34th minute after a well-executed play set up by Sophia Smith. Davidson then extended the lead with a header off a corner kick taken by Catarina Macario.

In the second half, Davidson scored his second goal of the match in the 48th minute, bringing the score to 3-0. Swanson sealed the victory with his second goal of the match in the 74th minute, after a slow buildup from the back by the US team, with Rose Lavelle providing the assist.

Hayes has been refreshing the USWNT roster with new talent, as only 11 players on the current roster were part of the 2023 World Cup team, and only 10 have previously participated in a national team camp. The win over South Korea was an impressive performance and provided valuable experience to many players as they prepare for their upcoming Paris Olympics. The USWNT has three more friendlies scheduled before they begin their Olympic journey, including matches against South Korea, Mexico and Costa Rica.
