The Agriculture and Food Research Initiative (AFRI) has recently allocated over $5.7 million in funding for 10 projects under the Pollinator Health: Research and Application program. This initiative aims to support projects that focus on enhancing the populations of pollinators in agricultural systems, especially in situations where the reliance on pollinators for pollination services is increasing and where declines in pollinator populations are evident.
The list of awardees includes various institutions such as Agricultural Research Service, Colorado State University, Indiana University, Mississippi State University, University of California, Irvine, University of Georgia, University of Southern Mississippi, University of Texas at Austin, University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, and Villanova University.
These grants will enable these institutions to conduct research and implement programs to address the challenges faced by pollinators and to promote their health in agricultural settings. Through these projects, valuable insights and solutions can be developed to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of pollinators in supporting our food supply.
