The Chinese government has announced that it will implement new export restrictions on certain aviation and aerospace-related equipment and technology starting from July 1st. This move is aimed at safeguarding national security and interests as well as fulfilling international obligations related to non-proliferation. Export licenses will be required for items designated under these new rules, which were jointly released with the General Administration of Customs and the Central Military Commission’s equipment development department.

The export controls will apply to a wide range of items, including aircraft and aerospace engines, structural parts, engine manufacturing equipment, software, technology, tools, molds, fixtures, and other processing equipment used in the production of materials such as “superplastic” bonded with titanium, aluminum, and their alloys. Both Beijing and Washington have taken steps to limit exports of products, technology, and equipment that are deemed essential for national security.

In response to the sales of weapons to Taiwan by the U.S., China has imposed sanctions on some American aerospace and defense manufacturers. The U.S. also has export controls in place for aero gas turbine engines
