The Coastal Family Health Center and Pharmacy in Wiggins is a groundbreaking project that has been in development for over six years. Initiated to address the needs of over 500 Stone County residents who were traveling to other facilities on the coast for medical services, the $1.8 million project aims to provide quality and affordable healthcare to all individuals, regardless of their economic or insurance status.

Angel Greer, CEO of Coastal Family Health Center, explained that the distance and transportation barriers faced by residents prompted the decision to establish a new facility in Wiggins. The organization offers sliding fee discounts based on household income and size to reduce healthcare costs for those in need.

Wiggins Mayor Darrell Berry expressed his enthusiasm for the new addition to the community, highlighting that it will shorten appointment wait times for residents seeking medical attention. Greer announced that the clinic aims to see its first Wiggins patient by mid-September, whether they walk in or utilize the drive-through pharmacy services.
