On Monday, Gap announced the appointment of Sven Gerjets as its new chief technology officer (CTO). The experienced leader brings a reputation for driving technological and cultural transformations across various industries to his new role.

Gerjets’ most recent position was that of chief technology officer at Mattel Inc., where he successfully led the transition from legacy platforms to cutting-edge digital environments. Throughout his career, he has held senior roles at major companies such as AT&T, DIRECTV, and Time Warner.

In a message to Gap employees, CEO Richard Dickson expressed his confidence in Gerjets’ expertise and leadership in putting Gap on the path to success through data science. Dickson believes that adopting the right technologies will help Gap push the boundaries of operational efficiency, product creation, and customer engagement.

With Gerjets joining the team, Gap is set to leverage technology to enhance its overall operations and customer experience. His proven track record of modernizing technology systems to improve direct-to-consumer operations includes front-end order management, warehouse management, and point-of-sale solutions. He will report directly to Dickson as they work together to drive brand reinvigoration and customer connection through data science.
