The historic Nels Andersen Farmhouse is being celebrating its Grand Re-Opening by Instant Landscaping on Saturday, May 25th. The event will take place at the new location of the farmhouse, 63291 Nels Andersen Road, following its relocation over a year ago to make way for the new Highway 97 route.
As part of National Historic Preservation Month, the Grand Re-Opening will feature live music by the Desert Sons Band, complimentary hot dogs, and door prizes. The farmhouse was originally built in 1929 by Bend pioneer and Danish immigrant Nels Andersen and his wife Lillian. They lived in the Tudor style stucco home until selling it to the Bradetich Brothers Dairy in the late 1940s.
The current owners of Instant Landscaping, Tim and Julie Larocco, have saved the Andersen Farmhouse twice – first with an award-winning restoration after purchasing it and then again in 2022 when it was threatened by the ODOT Highway 97 Realignment Project. Wolfe House and Building Movers assisted them in relocating the farmhouse to its current site.
