Florida Gators two-way sensation Jac Caglianone, CBS Sports’ No. 5 prospect in the upcoming Major League Baseball amateur draft, had an eventful Monday afternoon. The game was against North Carolina State as part of the Men’s College World Series. Caglianone, who started the game for the Gators on the mound, exited after a single inning, during which he allowed a run on a hit and two walks. His pitch velocity was down, with his fastball sitting in the 88-91 mph range. This was abnormal for him as he has typically topped out in the upper 90s in the past. After leaving the mound, Caglianone made his presence felt on the offensive side by hitting a three-run shot, giving the Gators a lead of 4-1.

Despite his performance on the mound, Caglianone denied being injured or having a physical ailment after the game. He had impressive statistics going into the game with an ERA of 4.71 and a 1.71 strikeout-to-walk ratio. However, his command deficiencies may limit him to only hitting at the big-league level
