Cynthia Craig, a concerned mother from Palm Springs, shared her recent experience with her son who overdosed on fentanyl and was admitted to Retreat Behavioral Health. Her 21-year-old son was abruptly asked to leave the facility on Friday and instructed to take an Uber with another patient. This left Cynthia worried and heartbroken, not knowing the whereabouts of her son.

After receiving a concerning message from him, she later learned that he was in a different rehab facility in Miami but remained worried about his safety in an unfamiliar place. Her son left Retreat without his belongings, as he claimed that staff were throwing items into dumpsters.

WPTV’s investigative reporters have been attempting to reach out to Florida’s Department of Children and Families to get more information about the situation at Retreat Behavioral Health. The Department is currently working on the request to find out what happened to all the patients at Retreat and if they have been appropriately placed in other facilities.
