Early Wednesday morning, Montgomery firefighters were dispatched to the 2600 block of Zelda Road after receiving a report of a possible structure fire. Upon arrival, they encountered smoke and flames coming from a vacant commercial building. This prompted them to declare a 2nd alarm fire.

Firefighters initiated a defensive attack using hand lines and aerial ladder systems to control and extinguish the fire. While conducting primary and secondary searches of the building, no individuals were found inside, and there were no reports of any injuries resulting from the fire. The location was identified as the former site of Mrs. Winners Chicken & Biscuits.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and no further details are available at this time. If you spot a typo or grammatical error, please let us know. (Please include the article’s headline.) Copyright 2024 WSFA. All rights reserved.
