Milan’s Zirkzee Deal Hangs in the Balance as Agent Commissions Block Negotiations: Will Premier League Clubs Pip Rossoneri to Sign Dutch Striker?

As negotiations for the transfer of Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee to Serie A side Milan hit a snag, it is feared that the Rossoneri may lose out on their key summer target. The €40M release clause set by Bologna had seemed like an easy hurdle to overcome, but Milan’s attempts to negotiate a lower commission payment to Zirkzee’s agent, Kia Joorabchian, have stalled.

According to transfer expert Alfredo Pedulla, there is interest in Zirkzee from the Premier League and Juventus. Joorabchian already has a strong relationship with Juventus’s Sporting Director, Cristian Giuntoli, which could work in their favor in potentially hijacking Milan’s move for Zirkzee. Currently in talks with Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz, another client of Joorabchian, Juventus’s pursuit of Zirkzee could complicate Milan’s efforts to secure his signature.

Zirkzee made his move to Italy from Bayern Munich in 2022 and had a successful season with Bologna, scoring 11 league goals that helped secure the club’s first-ever qualification for the Champions League. With negotiations still ongoing and competition from other clubs, Milan will have to navigate the challenges of agent commissions and find a way to convince Zirkzee that they are the best fit for his career development if they want to sign him this summer.
