After a health setback on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles last Sunday, Mike Tyson’s upcoming match against Jake Paul has been postponed. The new fight date will be announced by Tyson and Paul next week. Initially scheduled for July 20 in Arlington, Texas, the match was put on hold due to Tyson’s illness, leading to first responders being called in.

Tyson’s camp has linked the incident to an ulcer problem. Following a consultation with medical professionals about his recent ulcer flare-up, Tyson has been advised to engage in minimal to light training over the next few weeks before returning to full training with no restrictions, as stated by the fight’s promoters. Although Tyson has not fought professionally since June 2005, he has been consistently training for years and showcased his skills through an entertaining exhibition against Roy Jones Jr. in November 2020.

Jake Paul, a 27-year-old YouTube sensation turned successful prizefighter, expressed support for postponing the event to ensure that Tyson is at his best on fight night. Paul has made a name for himself in the boxing world by challenging MMA fighters and journeyman boxers, stating that he is ready for Tyson and is confident in achieving a victorious outcome when they eventually face off in the ring. With tickets already sold for the fight at the Dallas Cowboys’ home stadium, they will be honored for the rescheduled fight date according to promoters.
