John Alfred Tinniswood, a 111-year-old man from England, has been officially recognized as the world’s oldest living man by Guinness World Records. He received his certificate in Southport, England just two days after the previous title holder passed away.

Tinniswood, who was born in Liverpool in 1912, has lived through two world wars, as well as the Great Influenza and Covid-19 pandemics. He attributes his longevity to luck but also emphasizes moderation in life, advising against excessive drinking, eating, or physical activity.

Despite his age, Tinniswood remains a dedicated Liverpool football club fan and has witnessed all of the club’s league title wins and FA cup successes. He is also recognized as the world’s oldest surviving male World War II veteran. Currently residing in a care home in Southport, Tinniswood is described as an amazing individual with many stories to tell by care home manager Katie Howard.

Meanwhile, the world’s oldest living woman is 117-year-old Maria Branyas Morera from Spain who holds the record for oldest living woman.
