Marcus Maye, a free agent safety, has decided to sign with the Dolphins according to Jordan Schultz. After being released by the Saints earlier this year, Maye has been without a team. Despite signing a lucrative contract with New Orleans in 2022, he struggled with injuries and missed as many games as he played in two seasons, which included a suspension.
The 31-year-old spent his first five seasons in the NFL with the Jets after being drafted in the second round in 2017. Throughout his career, Maye has accumulated 409 tackles, eight interceptions, 28 passes defended, five forced fumbles, and 4.5 sacks in 77 games.
The Dolphins have bolstered their secondary during the offseason by adding cornerback Kendall Fuller and safety Jordan Poyer. Now, with the addition of Maye, they have strengthened their depth in the defensive backfield. This move shows the team’s commitment to improving their defense and will provide valuable experience and leadership to the team.
