Esme Morgan, a 23-year-old England defender, is set to depart from Manchester City this summer pending international clearance. Despite not confirming her destination, the club stated that she would be leaving subject to clearance and a work permit. There is a likelihood that she will join a National Women’s Soccer League team in the USA.

Morgan made her professional debut in 2017 and appeared in 87 senior matches across all competitions during her time at Manchester City. She has won both the Women’s FA Cup and League Cup with City and played a key role in the team’s second-place finish in the WSL this season, narrowly missing out on the title on the final day of the competition.

In a statement posted on X, Morgan expressed her gratitude for the support she received at Manchester City over nine years. She described her time at the club as a dream come true, thanking everyone who helped her develop as both a player and a person. Making her senior England debut in October 2022, Morgan was also part of the squad that reached the final of the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
