Mahershala Ali is in talks to join the cast of the upcoming Jurassic World film from Universal Pictures, according to Deadline. The specific role he will play and the plot of the movie are being kept under wraps, although it’s reported that a new storyline will be introduced. If the deal goes through, Ali will be joining previously announced cast members such as Scarlett Johansson, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Jonathan Bailey, and Rupert Friend.

Gareth Edwards has been appointed as the director of the movie, with a script written by David Koepp. Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley are producing for Kennedy-Marshall, while Steven Spielberg is serving as an executive producer for Amblin Entertainment. The film is expected to be released on July 2nd in 2025.

Ali is best known for his award-winning performances in movies like Green Book and Moonlight, and has recently appeared in Leave the World Behind on Netflix. He has also worked on other projects such as Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and Apple TV+’s Swan Song. His future projects include Laika’s Wildwood and Marvel’s new version of Blade where he will star in the lead role.
