On April 30, 2021, a food poisoning outbreak occurred in Long Khanh Regional General Hospital after patients consumed bread from a local business in Xuan Binh ward. Over the past two days, the hospital has been overwhelmed with 209 suspected cases of food poisoning. One serious case had to be transferred to a higher hospital for further treatment.

The symptoms exhibited by the patients included vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and abdominal pain after eating meat sandwiches purchased from the bakery between 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on April 30. Doctors diagnosed them with intestinal infections and suspected food poisoning. Fortunately, most of the patients are now in stable condition.

The Food Safety and Hygiene Department of Dong Nai province will collaborate with the Medical Center and relevant agencies in Long Khanh City to investigate the cause of the incident. The Department of Health has instructed Long Khanh Regional General Hospital to provide the best treatment conditions for the patients. The bakery that sold the bread has been operating for over 10 years but is currently suspended from business due to a lack of food safety and hygiene certification.

During this time, the city’s Chairman visited the hospital to ensure that all necessary measures were being taken for patient care. It is crucial to determine the source of this outbreak to prevent future incidents and ensure public safety.

One serious case had to be transferred to a higher hospital for further treatment while most patients were now in stable condition.
