In a meeting of the Labor Committee today, three opposition bills regarding the implementation of a short working week were discussed. The leader of the PD group, Arturo Scotto, urged the majority and the government to listen to their proposals. He emphasized the importance of Italy not falling behind the rest of Europe in terms of reducing working hours.

Scotto highlighted the need for constructive discussions in Parliament and announced that hearings will be conducted in the upcoming weeks. Representatives from social partners, innovative companies with union agreements, academia, and various associations will be invited to participate. The goal is to engage in a debate about the development and production model in the midst of digital and ecological revolutions.

The deputy emphasized the environmental benefits of a short working week, such as reduced emissions from commuting and less resource waste. He also pointed out the potential positive impacts on physical and mental health, as well as productivity. Scotto emphasized that a shorter work week can benefit workers, companies, and the economy as a whole.

Overall, the proposal for a short working week is viewed as a step towards a more sustainable and efficient future for Italy.
