On 13 May, a consortium was formed between Satbayev University, EOS GmbH (Germany), and NORM Additive (Turkey) to establish a Center for Additive Technologies at Kazakhstan’s Institute of Physics and Technology. The partnership aims to promote innovation and technological advancements in the field of additive manufacturing.

During a meeting in Almaty, Kazakh Invest highlighted the plans for a pilot project that includes a scientific and innovative competence center specializing in working with materials like polyamide and metal powders for the production of components using 3D printing technology. The consortium plans to establish an innovation center for technology transfer and competency development in the initial stage, followed by a research and innovation center for the manufacturing and testing of the first batch of products.

In subsequent stages, the focus will shift towards commercial production of specific components to meet the needs of various industries such as automotive, aerospace, engineering, oil and gas, and medicine. There are also plans to develop facilities for studying materials like polymers and their components to be used in industrial-scale 3D printers.

The ultimate goal of the project is to create a niche industry that will enhance Kazakhstan’s competitiveness in the global market by offering high-value-added products. By fostering research
