Maalouf had announced his trip to Haiti on social media, acknowledging the extreme danger he was putting himself in. Despite the risks, he continued with his journey, emphasizing in his video that one wrong move could lead to trouble in the city governed by gangs. While in captivity, Maalouf’s fate remains uncertain as his kidnappers continue to demand ransom money.
