Jon Rahm withdrew from the LIV Golf Houston event on Saturday, raising questions about his participation in next week’s U.S. Open. During the first round on Friday, Rahm was seen limping and in pain after a swing. It was later reported that he had a cut between two toes. Despite the discomfort, Rahm finished the round with a 3-under-par 69.

Unfortunately, Rahm’s cut became infected, forcing him to withdraw from the tournament halfway through the second round on Saturday. He played six holes before deciding to stop, remaining at 3-under. Louis Oosthuizen also withdrew from the event due to a lower back injury.

Rahm has been having mixed results this year after winning the 2023 Masters and the 2021 U.S. Open. He finished 45th at the Masters and missed the cut at the PGA Championship. The LIV Golf Houston event was meant to prepare him for the upcoming U.S. Open, where he is still considered one of the top betting favorites despite not winning an event since joining LIV Golf in December 2021 and finishing inside the top ten in seven events he played so far this season .
