NTT DOCOMO, NTT, NEC, and Fujitsu have successfully developed a cutting-edge wireless device capable of ultra-high-speed 100 Gbps transmissions in the sub-terahertz bands of 100 GHz and 300 GHz. These companies have been working together on research and development for sub-terahertz devices since 2021 in preparation for the upcoming era of 6G technology.

Tests on the jointly developed wireless device have demonstrated successful transmissions at distances of up to 100 meters in the 100 GHz and 300 GHz bands. This transmission speed is about 20 times faster than the maximum data rate of current 5G networks, which is only 4.9 Gbps.
