The “Health Argument for Climate Action” event is set to take place during the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF 2024). The aim of this event is to support the assessment of SDG Goal 13, which focuses on taking urgent action to address climate change and its impacts. This event will emphasize the critical link between health and climate change, and it will highlight the health benefits of climate action.

The World Health Organization (WHO), Member States, and the health community have led initiatives to promote climate-resilient and sustainable low-carbon health systems through platforms like the Alliance for Transformative Action for Climate and Health (ATACH). This event will showcase solutions in areas such as clean energy, healthy and sustainable food systems, and healthy urban planning.

The “Health Argument for Climate Action” event will be hosted by the WHO in collaboration with the United Arab Emirates, UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), and The Rockefeller Foundation. It will be held in a hybrid format with both online and in-person participation available at the UN Headquarters in New York.

This event aims to bring together experts and stakeholders from various sectors to discuss effective strategies and initiatives for addressing the health impacts of climate change while promoting sustainable solutions. The discussions will focus on how we can work together to create a future where everyone has access to healthy living conditions free from climate change.
