In the quarterfinals, Jimmy knocked out defending circuit champion Mathias Fullerton with a stunning performance. The two archers tied on 148 points in regulation, with Fullerton shooting the last arrow to force a tiebreak. However, Jimmy’s shot in the shoot-off was better, securing his place in the semifinals.

Jimmy has had three previous stage wins, with two occurring in 2019 when he won the world championship and one in 2022. Despite his successes, he has never advanced past his first match in the Hyundai Archery World Cup Final. Both Lutz and Sullivan, two US archers, find themselves on opposite sides of the semifinal bracket in Yecheon.

Sullivan expressed his admiration for Jimmy, stating that he has looked up to him throughout his archery career. Being in the same final four as his idol is a special moment for him. Most archers reported that the wind presented a challenge throughout the afternoon on the expansive range in Yecheon. However, world number one Schloesser found that he could use the wind to his advantage, giving him confidence and leading to a successful shooting day.

Competition will continue with mixed team eliminations on Friday morning followed by recurve eliminations in the afternoon. The archers are preparing for the next phase of the tournament with high hopes and determination as they strive to advance through each round and become champions of Yecheon’s Hyundai Archery World Cup Final.
